Cliff,
I have been reading some of the theist letters that you have been receiving. I myself am an atheist. One gentleman was talking about how he will pray for you and how you are bringing down your visitors with you. I find that statement to be quite harsh. I do not think that you, as one man, should be held responsible for everyone else's actions.
I also want to say that since I have let the thought of "God" leave me and disavowed religion, I am much more content and feel more independent. I have realized that religion was just a crutch to keep me up. Once I kicked the crutch, I was able to walk with a more confident stride. I also feel that the bible is a massive work of fiction. It almost reminds me of the works of Æsope's Fables. It is a book of morals. I also have looked at the commandments as a research project. I concluded that only one commandment really needs to be said. That commandment being thou shall not steal. If you think about it, all the commandments revolve around that. If you kill, you are stealing a man/woman's life. If you commit adultery, you are stealing someone else's love, and so on. I also found it quite egotistical that "God" said, no one shall worship any other God but me (or something to that effect, I don't have that commandment memorized). If "God" is really loving and understanding, wouldn't he let others observe other religions and then just if he or she or it was the best "God" to believe in?
My opinion is that "God" is not all powerful and all knowing, and he is full of flaws.
Sincerely,
Thomas
