You have a lot of good questions here which can only be answered by a theologian. But I will try my very best to answer them since I have been a Christian for quite some time now.
How long was God around before he made anything? |
Before creating this world, God is in heaven with his angels.
What was he doing during that time? |
I really don't know, maybe God was planning for the creation of the universe.
What made him decide to make something? |
I really don't know, He is God we cannot question Him.
Could it be he was lonely, as some Christians have said? |
God couldn't be lonely. In heaven there is no loneliness Rev. 21:4, Rev 22:3
When he decided to make people, why didn't he make them perfect? |
God made people perfect. They were even set in the Land of Eden. Gen 2:8 everything in the garden of Eden was perfect. But there is a catch for Adam not to eat the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden. Which will cause him to die spiritually, be separated from God. God is giving man the decision whether to die or not.
Who made the devil? |
God did not make the devil. Lucifer as said in the Bible is the highest and most beautiful angel of God. But lucifer was not satisfied with this position that he wanted to be God himself. So God threw Lucifer and the other angels to hell. These are quoted in the Bible and I will give them to you in the future.
If God is all-powerful, why doesn't he just get rid of the devil? |
We cannot question God, since he is God. He could easily destroy what he created. But I think God just left the devil to stay so that all of us people who made the wrong decision would be thrown in hell with the devil. Rev. 21:6-8
Why am I sharing this? Before I became a Christian, I also have a lot of question in my mind. Questions in the after life. Since life here on earth is only short. How long do you think man can live here in this world. 80-100 is only a short time. I'm now 40 but I made the right decision when I was 28. After accepting the Lord Jesus Christ in my heart there was peace within me. Phil. 4:7 But it also says no peace for the sinner Isa. 48:22 worse yet it says that " All have sinned and come short of the Glory of God" Rom 3:23 And what is the penalty for sin? In Roman 3:23 it says "the wages of sin is death and gift of God is eternal life". How do we get this eternal life. I just accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into my life and acknowledge that he died on the cross for my sins.
I just hope and pray that you would search more of the truth which is in the bible. Other people say that the Bible was written only by people. But as you read the Bible you can see the accuracy of every prophesy that is written on it. I think nothing in life here on earth is free but only eternal life which is given to us by our lord Jesus Christ. 1John 5:13, John 5:24
