Unmoved By The Truth,
I Will, Instead, Pray For You
Benjamin R. Johnson
I am grieved by your site. This is an example of what you do turned around back at you:
As the government of the United States of America is... founded on the Christian religion..." -- Treaty with Tripoli (1797)
You have won one more person to pray for you. Benjamin R. Johnson

Your letter is quite cryptic -- to the point where my feeble brain cannot make out what it is that you're trying to say -- other than that you have the audacity to announce to a complete stranger that you're praying for him and that you'd go so far as to alter a sentence quoted from the Treaty of Tripoli so that, through your use of elipses points, your citation makes it say the precise opposite of what it originally said.
Please make your statements in simple English, using complete sentences to express your thoughts and expressing your thoughts completely and plainly. Please also try to be more truthful. If you cannot do that, I will not respond to your e-mail.
Meanwhile, here is how the Treaty of Tripoli really reads:
As the government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion or tranquility of Musselmen [Muslims] ... it is declared ... that no pretext arising from religious opinion shall ever product an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries....
The United States is not a Christian nation any more than it is a Jewish or a Mohammedan nation."
