Question 1: Are there any college scholarship funds for Atheists?
Background: My son is about to be a senior in high school. He is an Atheist, which I support. I have been doing scholarship searches and have found scholarships for every religion I've heard of, and some I'd never heard of, but not for atheism. Do you know of any college scholarship programs for atheist students? If not, I am thinking about starting a fund, since it should exist. I am sick to death of students being rewarded for their faith, and none being rewarded for their logic.
Question 2: If not, what do you think about the creation of one?
Have a great day and thanks for your site.

The only fund at all is the James Hervey Johnson Trust out of San Diego. Freedom From Religion Foundation would know more, as this trust funded the research and publication of Annie's book.
Creating one would not be a bad idea, however, defining atheist would be tough: would you limit it to those who assert that no gods exist (strong atheism) or allow weak atheists to qualify?
Administering it would be fun, though; I'd just love to be able to get a writing contest going of some sort.
