Hello Mr Walker,
Greetings from Singapore.
I read Michael Thuresson's letter, which ends by saying, "Read the Bible / it won't hurt will it / what are you afraid of?"
You replied, "[I'm afraid of] becoming an evangelical Christian".
I've tried to read through the very first chapter of Genesis in the Bible: it did hurt me.
But this was for all the wrong reasons: I was laughing so hard that my sides hurt! Just think! This is the 21st century, but that ridiculous story is purported to be an explanation of how the World began!
I know about the supposed acts of genocide and all (like the infamous Noah flood). But you truly have nothing to fear, even if you try your damnedest to become an evangelical Christian on the basis of that ridiculous text. If anything it'll make you reaffirm your atheism.
It is only the most charismatic of evangelist Christians themselves who, like any convincing conman, can actually succeed in converting people who have obviously never thumbed through the Bible.
Best regards to your health,
Lim Si Seng
